Broadway In Chicago will bring its free annual SUMMER CONCERT to Millennium Park on Monday, August 10, 2026. Sponsored by ABC 7 Chicago, the concert begins at 6:15 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion (201 E. Randolph St.) and is presented in partnership with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).

The one night only event will feature performances from current and upcoming Broadway In Chicago productions, including THE NOTEBOOK, which will already be in performances at the James M. Nederlander Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.), and THE OUTSIDERS, which will already be in performances at the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph St.), along with selections from WAITRESS and subscription titles JEKYLL & HYDE (Kokandy Productions), DIRTY DANCING: THE MUSICAL, OPERATION MINCEMEAT: A NEW MUSICAL, JERSEY BOYS, and MAYBE HAPPY ENDING . Additional shows will be announced later this summer.

Presented in collaboration with DCASE, the Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert is part of Millennium Park’s summer season, showcasing symphonic music, dance, opera, and Broadway favorites performed by some of Chicago’s leading cultural institutions. Lookingglass Theatre Company presents Ice Cream Circus! 2026, a free, family-friendly theatrical event presented as part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks series. Created in association with Actors Gymnasium, Ice Cream Circus! tours parks across Chicago and Evanston June 2 – 7, 2026.

A wordless story of wonder, kindness, and play, Ice Cream Circus! combines dance, clown, and circus arts to tell an original story designed for audiences of all generations and language backgrounds. Performed outdoors in neighborhood parks, the production celebrates the transformative magic of a simple act of kindness.

"Traveling to the parks throughout Chicago these past few summers has been balm for the soul," comments Artistic Director Kasey Foster. "When we can bring a live theatre experience to families, some for the first time, we see why live performance is essential to the human experience. There is awe and there is wonder, yes, but most impactful, there is community."

Ice Cream Circus! is created and directed by Kasey Foster and Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi, in collaboration with the cast: Kaitlyn Andrews, Alexander D'Amazing, Kat Hoil, Julie Matolo, and Jacinda Ratcliffe. Ice Cream Circus! was inspired by workshops with over 600 Chicago Public School students and community members including Communities in Schools Chicago, Chicago Help Initiative, Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago, Trumbull Park Line Dancers, Austin Town Hall Cheerleaders, PODER, and students at Dyett High School for the Arts, Solorio Academy High School, and Palmer, Hurley, Tilton, Parker, New Sullivan, Libby, Webster, Mozart, and Earle Elementary.  

All performances are free and open to the public, with no RSVP required. Neighborhood ice cream vendors will be present at each performance, with treats available for purchase. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs for outdoor seating. In the event of inclement weather, performances will move indoors to park fieldhouses at each location. The Oak Park Festival Theatre, Oak Park's premiere Equity theatre and the oldest professional classical theatre in the Midwest, today announced the casts and production teams for its Summer 2026 productions of William Shakespeare's HAMLET and Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. Presented in repertory for the first time in company history, the productions run concurrently June 30 – August 15, 2026, at Austin Gardens in downtown Oak Park. 

Though radically different in tone, HAMLET and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST speak to one another in striking and unexpected ways. Together, the productions explore the tension between performance and truth, asking what happens when individuals are forced to navigate the expectations imposed on them by family, society, and power. 

Staged in repertory for the first time in company history, the season invites audiences to experience two master playwrights in conversation across centuries while watching Oak Park Festival Theatre actors tackle radically different worlds of comedy and tragedy throughout the summer. 

Directed by Oak Park Festival Theatre Producing Artistic Director Peter Andersen, HAMLET runs July 1 – August 15, 2026. Called home by his father's sudden death and his mother's swift remarriage, Prince Hamlet finds the court of Denmark transformed–and deeply unsettled. When a ghost appears with a terrible accusation, Hamlet is pulled into a relentless search for truth, testing the limits of loyalty, love, and revenge.

Directed by Kathryn Walsh in her Oak Park Festival Theatre debut, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST runs June 30 – August 14, 2026. Jack Worthing leads a double life–one in the country, one in the city–while his friend Algernon Moncrieff has troubles of his own. When both men assume the name "Ernest" to win the affections of two very particular women, a web of mistaken identities, secret engagements, and delightful deceptions begins to unravel.

Oak Park Festival Theatre's paid Apprenticeship Program, now in its 16th year, provides an educational, inspirational, and career-broadening experience for post-high school and undergraduate students in theatre arts. This season's apprentices are Archer Bart, Karla Valdez, Emily York, Avery Dulak, Anya Moeske, Jo Selmeczy, Jamille Calixte, Evan Ozer, and Ella Boyden.
